10 Safety Tips During a Storm

Stormy months are here. The worse possible thing that could happen to you is being caught up in the flood. Power failures are very common in situations like this so I share my own lists here. Feel free to add your own.

10 things one should keep in mind before the storm.

1. Flashlights. If you have rechargeable ones the better. Nowadays, they come with other things like AM/FM and even CD player. Now your power failure problems will never be that blue anymore.

2. Make sure you have enough food. You'll never know what will happen as what we learned with 'Ondoy". Better have your home secured by the convenience of not having line up for the grocery when things start to run out.

3. Make sure the branches of your trees are trimmed . Falling trees are common with the ground turning soft accompanied with strong winds.

4.Keep your home secured. Make sure that your walls , roof and anything are OK. You don't want parts of your house flying around.

5. Check your drainage and surroundings. You don't want your surroundings flooding because of clogged drainage. Not to mention health problems should these problems continue.

6. Keep your cellphones and other means of communication charged. Being able to have help when needed is very important.

7.Listen to the news. Check the latest updates.

8.Make sure you have enough medicine. Sickness can happen during this time due to prolonged rain .

9. Be attentive . Never wander out . Stay away from abandoned structures and always , make sure you are in safe shelter in case you got caught up in a storm.

10. Always be involved with your community. You will never know if you need some help with your own.
